Disk usage
Press 5 (g u with the vim preset), or run :du, to see what takes up space below the focused panel's folder. :du <path> measures another folder. Like ncdu, strata measures everything below the folder once, so opening and leaving folders afterwards is instant.
Each row shows an item's size, its share of the folder as a bar and a percentage, and how many files a folder holds. Folders are listed largest first. The title shows the folder's total size and file count, and how long ago it was measured.
| Keys | Action |
|---|---|
| j / k | Move down / up |
| l / enter | Open the folder; on a file, show it in the files view |
| h / backspace | Go to the parent folder. Above the folder you measured, the parent is measured |
| d d / D | Trash / permanently delete the item (ctrl+d in the classic preset), after asking. Sizes above it go down |
| r / F5 | Measure the shown folder again |
| s | Sort by size, file count or name |
| o | Show the item in the files view |
| esc / 1 | Back to the files view |
The measurement stays on the folder's filesystem: other disks mounted below it are listed but not entered, and symbolic links count as nothing. While a folder is being measured, the view counts the items seen so far. You can switch to other views in the meantime.
The last measurement is kept while strata runs. Opening the view on a folder inside it shows that folder straight away. Press r to bring it up to date. A deletion that fails, for example for lack of permission, still disappears from the view until you measure again.
Disk usage works on local folders. The dashboard shows a one-level summary of the focused folder too; enter on a folder there opens it here.
